dryeror othergas appliances.

j. Allow machineto cool5 minutesbeforestoring.

Operation

1. Beforestartingthismachine,reviewthe "Safety

instructions".Failureto followtheserulesmayresultin

seriousinjurytothe operatoror bystanders.

2. Neverleavethismachineunattendedwiththe engine

running.

3. Donot operatemachinewhileunderthe influenceof

alcohol,drugs,or medication.

4. Neverallowanyoneto operatethismachinewithout

properinstruction.

5. Alwaysoperatethismachinewithall safetyequipment

inplaceandworking.Makesureallcontrolsare

properlyadjustedfor safeoperation.

6. Donot changethe enginegovernorsettingsor

overspeedthe engine.The governorcontrolsthe

maximumsafeoperatingspeedof the engine.

7. Whenloadinga log,alwaysplaceyourhandsonthe

sidesof the log, noton theends,andneveruseyour

footto helpstabilizea log.Failureto do so,mayresult

incrushedoramputatedfingers,toes, hand,or foot.

8. Useonly yourhandto operatethe controls.

9. Neverattemptto splitmorethan onelogat a time

unlessthe ramhasfullyextendedanda secondlogis

neededto completethe separationof the first log.

10.Forlogswhicharenot cutsquare,the leastsquare

endandthe longestportionof the logshouldbe

placedtowardthe beamand wedge,andthe square

end placedtowardthe endplate.

11.Whensplittingintheverticalposition,stabilizethe log

beforemovingthecontrol.Splitas follows:

a. Placelog onthe endplateandturn untilit leans

againstthe beamandis stable.

b. Whensplittingextralargeor unevenlogs,the log

mustbestabilizedwithwoodenshimsor splitwood

betweenthe logandendplateor ground.

12.Alwayskeepfingersawayfromany cracksthatopen

inthe logwhile splitting.Theycanquicklycloseand

pinch oramputateyourfingers.

13.Keepyourworkareaclean,immediatelyremovesplit

woodaroundthe machineso youdo notstumbleover

it.

14.Nevermovethismachinewhilethe engineisrunning.

15.Thismachineshouldnot betowedon anystreet,

highwayor publicroadwithoutcheckingthe existing

federal,state,or localvehiclerequirements.Any

licensingor modificationssuchas taillights,etc.,

neededto comply,is thesole responsibilityof the

purchaser.If a"Statementof Origin"isrequiredin

yourstate,seeyourlocaldealer.

16.Do nottow machinefasterthan45mph.

17.SeeTransportingthe LogSplittersectionin this

manualfor propertowinginstructionsonceall

federal,local,or staterequirementsare met.

Maintenance and Storage

1. Stopthe engine,disconnectthe sparkplugand

grounditagainstthe enginebeforecleaning,or

inspectingthe machine.

2. Stopthe engineand relievehydraulicsystem

pressurebeforerepairingor adjustingfittings,hoses,

tubing,orother systemcomponents.

3. Topreventfires,clean debrisandchafffromthe

engineandmufflerareas,if theengineis equipped

witha sparkarrestermuffler,cleanand inspectit

regularlyaccordingto manufacturersinstructions.

Replaceif damaged.

4. Periodicallycheckthatall nutsandbolts,hose

clamps,and hydraulicfittingsaretightto besure

equipmentisinsafeworkingcondition.

5. Checkall safetyguardsandshieldsto besure

theyareinthe properposition.Neveroperatewith

safetyguards,shields,or otherprotectivefeatures

removed.

6. The pressurereliefvalveis presetat thefactory.Do

notadjustthe valve.

7. Neverattemptto movethismachineoverhillyor

uneventerrainwithouta towvehicleor adequate

help.

8. Foryour safety,replaceall damagedor wornparts

immediatelywithoriginalequipmentmanufacturer's

(O.E.M.)partsonly."Useof partswhichdo notmeet
