7. Attemptto cutwood acrossthe grain.
8. Attemptto removepartiallysplitwoodfromthe wedge
withyour hands.Fullyretractwedgeto dislodgewood
withlog dislodger.
Raising and Lowering Beam
1. Usecontrolhandleto runwedgeupanddownbeam
6 to 8 timesto circulatethe hydraulicfluid,whichwill
warmandthinthe fluid.
2. Placelog splitteron a firm,levelsurface.
To raisethe beamfor verticaloperation:
3. Pullout the horizontalbeamlockonthe tongue.
4. Pivotbeamlockdownto releasethe beam.
5. Move the beamto theverticalposition.Secureit with
the beamlockonthe reservoirtankassembly.
_ ARNING:Alwaysuse the logsplitter
inthe verticalpositionwhen splitting
heavy logs.
To lowerthe beam:
1. Pullout the verticalbeamlockonthe reservoirtank.
2. Pivotbeamlockdownto releasethe beam.
3. Carefullypullbackon beamandlowerit to the
horizontalposition.Thehorizontalbeamlockwill lock
automatically.SeeFigure4-1.

Lowerthe beamto its horizontalposition.Makecer-
tainthe beamislockedsecurelywiththe horizontal
beamlock.

3. Supportthe tongueandpivotthe jackstandup
againstthetongue.See Figure4-4.

5. Attachcouplerhitchto a class I orhigher2" ballon a
towingvehicle;latchsecurely.
a. If couplerhitchdoesnotfit on ball:Turn
adjustmentnutoneturn counter-clockwise.
b. If couplerhitch is too loose on ball: Turn
adjustmentnutoneturn clockwise.
6. Connectthe safetychainsto thetowingvehicle.
7. Pluginthe tail lights,ifso equipped,to the tail light
connectoron the towvehicle.
