Before Each Use

1. Removethedipstickand checkhydraulicfluidlevel.

Refillif necessary.ApprovedfluidsincludeDexron®

III / Mercon®IIIautomatictransmissionfluid,a

10WeightAWhydraulicoilor Pro-MixTM AW-32

HydraulicOil.

2. Check engineoil level.Refillifnecessary.

3. Fill upgasolineif necessary.

4. Lubricatethe beamareawheresplittingwedgewill

slidewithengineoil. Donot usegreaseto lubricate.

Makesureto lubricateboththe frontandthe backof

the beamface.

5. Attachsparkplugwireto thesparkplug.

Using the Log Splitter

1. Placethe logsplitteronlevel,dry ground.

2. Placethe beamineitherthe horizontalorvertical

positionandlockinplacewiththeappropriate

lockingrod.

3. Blockthe frontandbackof bothwheels.

4. Placethe logagainstthe endplateandonlysplit

woodinthedirectionof the grain.

5. Tostabilizethe log,placeyour handonly on sidesof

log.Neverplacehandon the end betweenthe log

and the splittingwedge.

6. Onlyoneadult shouldstabilizethe logandoperate

the controlhandle,so the operatorhasfull control

overthe logandthe splittingwedge.

1. Toremovepartiallysplitwoodfromwedge,move

controlhandleto REVERSEpositionuntilwedgeis

fullyretractedto allowsplitwoodportionto contactthe

logdislodger.

2. Onceremovedfromwedgewith logdislodger,split

woodfromoppositeendor inanotherlocation.

Vertical Position

1. Pullthe horizontalbeamlockout to releasethe beam

andpivotthe beamto the verticalposition.

2. Tolockthe beamin theverticalposition,pullout

onthe verticalbeamlockandrotateit to securethe

beam.SeeFigure4-1.

3. Standinfrontof the unit to operatethe controlhandle

andto stabilizethe log. SeeFigure4-3.

Horizontal Position

1. Pulltheverticalbeamlockout and rotateit down.See

Figure4-1.Pivotbeamto the horizontalposition.The

beamwill lockautomaticallyinhorizontalposition.

2. Standbehindthe reservoirtankto operatecontrol

handleandto stabilizethe log.

Operating Tips

Always:

1. Usecleanfluidandcheckfluid levelregularly.

2. Useanapprovedhydraulicfluid.Approvedfluids

includeDexron®III/Mercon®IIIautomatictransmis-

sionfluid,a 10WeightAWhydraulicoil or Pro-MixTM

AW-32HydraulicOil.

3. Useafilter (cleanor replaceregularly).

4. Usea breathercapon fluidreservoir.

5. Makesure pumpis mountedandalignedproperly.
